How to Detect Duplicate Content in Your Knowledge Base

As your documentation grows, it’s easy for similar or identical content to appear across multiple articles, sometimes without you even realizing it. Managing these duplicates manually can be time-consuming and inconsistent. Document360’s duplicate content detection gives you a smarter, more efficient way to identify, review, and streamline repeated content throughout your knowledge base.

Enabling Duplicate Content Detection

To turn on the feature:

  • Go to Settings > AI Settings > Eddy AI in the Knowledge Base portal.
  • Open the AI Premium Suite section.
  • Enable the Duplicate content detection toggle.

Once enabled, Eddy AI Assistant will activate duplicate detection capabilities. You can then run scans and access reports from the Snippets page or the Knowledge Pulse module.

How Duplicate Detection Works

The duplicate content detection feature in Knowledge Pulse generates detailed reports and provides tools to manage duplicates.

  • Start a full scan by clicking Scan Now.
  • Once the AI is done, you’ll get a list of all the duplicated content it found, along with the suggested snippet name, the number of occurrences, and the articles where each one appears.

Understanding Match Percentage

In some cases, two blocks of content may look slightly different due to formatting or minor text changes.

  • The match percentage shows how closely the content matches.
  • The AI only recommends items that are 80% match or higher.

Converting Duplicates into Snippets

To turn duplicated content into a snippet and update those articles:

  • Select the articles you want.
  • Click Add Snippet and Update Articles.

If there are items you don’t want in the list, choose Ignore. Those items will move to the ignored duplicates list, and you can always bring them back to the open list if needed.

The primary suggestion you see for each duplicate is pulled from the oldest article containing that content. You can edit it, and the match percentage will automatically update to reflect how it impacts the related articles.

If there’s already an existing snippet that isn’t being used in the articles, you’ll see a tag letting you know. In that case, click Update Articles to replace the content with that snippet.

Preview Suggestions Before Updating

If you ever need to double-check a suggestion before committing to a change, use the Preview option.

It opens a side-by-side comparison so you can easily see differences and decide whether to apply the snippet or keep the article as is.

Reports available within the Knowledge Pulse module can also be accessed in the Snippet section.
