What is Knowledge Capture?

Knowledge capture is the process of collecting, organizing, and storing knowledge in an organization. The tools for capturing knowledge differ depending on the type and source of knowledge. Also, the knowledge that needs to be captured can reside both inside and outside the organization. A few examples of knowledge capture include interviews and surveys to record tacit knowledge from experts and stakeholders; documentation and repositories for capturing explicit knowledge in various formats; and knowledge maps to capture the structure and location of knowledge within an organization.
